Electrotherapy & Therapeutic Ultrasound
TENS, therapeutic ultrasound and interferential current to reduce pain and support tissue healing — as part of a plan, not on their own.
About this service
Electrical modalities help reduce pain and inflammation and support tissue healing, which makes the movement and exercise phase possible. Worth being clear about: these are adjuncts within a treatment plan, not standalone treatment — electrotherapy sessions without exercise rarely produce a lasting result.

How treatment works
- 1
Choosing the modality
Each device has different indications. Selection follows from the tissue involved and the stage of healing.
- 2
Setting the dose
Intensity, duration and frequency are set for your case and adjusted as symptoms improve.
- 3
The session
Typically 10 to 20 minutes depending on the modality, usually immediately before manual therapy and exercise.
- 4
Integrating with the plan
We use the pain reduction it produces as a window to do movement and exercise with less discomfort.
Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt, or carry risk?
The sensation is usually a mild, comfortable tingling or vibration. Devices run at low, controlled intensity and we check with you throughout the session.
Is it suitable for everyone?
No. There are contraindications — pacemakers, pregnancy over certain areas, and some skin and neurological conditions. We screen for these before any session.
Is electrotherapy alone enough?
Rarely. It eases symptoms temporarily, but without treating the cause and adding exercise, the pain returns.
